Earlier this month, I was honored to receive an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Busan University of Foreign Studies. The ceremony took place on July 15, 2024, at the BUFS campus in Geumjeong-gu, Busan. I am profoundly humbled by this award and extend my deepest appreciation to the University for this remarkable honor.

Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS), founded in 1981 by the late Chung Tae-sung, specializes in foreign languages, offering programs in English, French, Japanese, Chinese, German, Indonesian, Malay, and Thai. BUFS is renowned for its excellence in foreign language education and has established exchange programs with over 90 universities in 24 countries, fostering international collaboration and student mobility.

Korea has played a pivotal role in my legal career, and the city of Busan holds special significance to my family. My older brother, Edward Quinn, served in the Korean War in 1950, courageously fighting for South Korea and the Allies. His experiences here were defining moments of his life. Since my first trip to Korea in 2002, I have grown to love the country, its people, and its culture, forming many friendships and business connections. This personal history makes this honor particularly meaningful to me.

I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the global legal community and for the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Quinn Emanuel. I am committed to upholding the values this degree represents and will continue my efforts in the field of law with renewed vigor and dedication.
